"The Yellow Ryl" is a short story by L. Frank Baum. It is thought to have been written around 1905 or 1906, though it was not published until 1925. It appeared in two parts, in the August and September 1925 issues of A Child's Garden for Cheerful and Happy Homes, a children's periodical of the time. The story was reprinted in The Baum Bugle in its issues for Spring and Autumn 1964.

The story features Tanko-Mankie, the yellow ryl who appears in "The Dummy That Lived" in Baum's American Fairy Tales. "The Yellow Ryl" may have been intended for the 1908 second edition of that collection, which added three pieces to the dozen of the first edition.

In both of the stories that feature him, Tanko-Mankie causes trouble by bringing inanimate objects to life. The little boy in "The Yellow Ryl" is named Joslyn, a Baum family name (as in Matilda Joslyn Gage, Frank Joslyn Baum, Joslyn Stanton Baum).
