"The Extravagance of Dan" is a short story written by L. Frank Baum. It was originally published in The National Magazine in May 1897. This was the first time that any piece by Baum appeared in a nationally-distributed periodical. (The same magazine printed Baum's "The Return of Dick Weemins" two months later.)
"The Extravagance of Dan" was reprinted in The Baum Bugle in 1974.
