The Delineator was a major women's magazine of the later nineteenth and early twentieth centuries. In its heyday it was one of the "big five" women's magazines, along with titles like The Ladies' Home Journal. The publication began as a collection of patterns for women's fashions, which accounts for its name; later it expanded into a general-purpose periodical.

Over a period of ten months in the first decade of the twentieth century, The Delineator published a concentrated burst of L. Frank Baum's short fiction. The magazine printed "A Kidnapped Santa Claus" in its December 1904 issue, and followed that with the nine stories in Baum's Animal Fairy Tales, one per month between January and September 1905.

Separate from the work of Baum, The Delineator also printed freelance illustration work from the pen of John R. Neill.
