Sherwood Smith (born 1951) is a veteran author of fiction for children, juveniles, and adults in the fantasy and science fiction genres. The L. Frank Baum Family Trust chose Smith as a new "Royal Historian" of Oz, to continue the series of Oz novels. She has been commissioned to write four new novels; the first two of these, The Emerald Wand of Oz and Trouble Under Oz, were published in 2005 and 2006.
