Ozma and the Wayward Wand is an Oz book for younger readers, written by Polly Berends and illustrated by David Rose.

Dorothy Gale returns to Oz, in the basket of a runaway balloon. She nearly lands in the Deadly Desert, however, and needs to be rescued by Ozma, the Scarecrow, and other compnaions, including a newly-reconstructed Gump. Meanwhile, the son of the royal gardener, a boy named Robert, sneaks into the royal palace to steal Ozma's magic wand. Like Mickey Mouse in The Sorcerer's Apprentice, the boy is better at releasing the wand's magic than he is at controlling it. He unleashes fog, storms, and a giant bullfrog upon the Emerald City before matters are brought under control once again.
