Oogaboo is one of the smallest and the poorest kingdoms in all the Land of Oz. It is ruled by Queen Ann Soforth. Oogaboo is located in a valley among mountains, in the far northwestern corner of the Winkie Country. It is ruled by its own royal family, not always harmoniously.
The people of the valley are usually happy and contented, and never care to wander over the mountain pass into the more settled parts of the land, though they are aware that Ozma rules the Land of Oz from the Emerald City. There are 18 men, 27 women, and 44 children in Oogaboo. The men are all named Jo, and take their surnames from their crops: Jo Apple has an apple orchard, etc.
Oogaboo was once ruled by King Jol Jemkiph Soforth, who did all the drudgery of deciding disputes and telling his people when to plant crops. One night he escaped over the pass and into the Land of Oz to escape his disagreeable wife. A few years later his wife followed him over the pass. Since that time Oogaboo has been ruled by Queen Ann. (Tik-Tok of Oz)
Queen Ann later went in search of her parents with the help of the Shaggy Man, several young people and a small dragon named Moretomore. (Queen Ann in Oz)
