Michael O'Neal Riley is a contemporary author on Oz and L. Frank Baum. His book Oz and Beyond: The Fantasy World of L. Frank Baum was published by the University Press of Kansas in 1997. He also wrote an Introduction to the Signet Classics edition of The Life and Adventures of Santa Claus (2005).

Riley is a professor of children's literature at Castleton State College in Vermont. His article "The Great City of Oz: L. Frank Baum at the 1893 World's Fair" was printed in The Baum Bugle in 1998; his short story "The Ruby Heart," about Bungle the Glass Cat, appeared in Oz-story Magazine in 1999.

Riley has also functioned as a specialty publisher: his Pamami Press, headquartered in Douglasville, Georgia, issued letter-press editions of rare Baum works, like its 1980 edition of "The Christmas Stocking."
