Though she was a stranger in Arol, she was much respected because of her stately manner and kindly countenance.
She had once lived in the Groves of Trom, but was banished for breaking one of the laws of the fairies. The queen commanded her to live among mortals in mortal form until she had saved a hundred mortal lives.
When the "Mad King" of Arol decreed that all the children in his kingdom should be put to death, Hallita transformed the king himself into a child. The king was forced to change his mind and repeal his decree, and thus Hallita was able to save many hundreds of lives. She restored the king's manly form and returned home to the Groves of Trom.
