When Dorothy Gale and her Uncle Henry returned to the U.S. from a visit to Australia, Henry went to Hugson's Ranch while Dorothy stayed with friends in San Francisco for a week. Zeb Hugson, who was Bill's nephew and worked at the ranch, went to collect Dorothy from the railroad siding, but was lost in an earthquake.
