Emerson Hough (28 June 1857 – 30 April 1923) was an author best known for his Western tales. He lived in Chicago for much of his life, and became a friend and collaborator of L. Frank Baum.

During the first decade of the twentieth century, Baum and Hough worked to two theatrical projects, The Maid of Athens (1903) and The King of Ghee-Whiz (1905). Neither project was ever produced onstage.
