In The Wizard of Oz, we know almost everyone in Kansas has a counterpart in Oz but many have wondered who Glinda's counterpart in Kansas. Much like how Aunt Em and Uncle Henry haven't any counterparts in Oz, Glinda doesn't have one in Kansas, or does she? As we know Dorothy is an orphan living with her aunt and uncle and it is unknown truly what happened to her parents but many believe that they have passed away. Once Dorothy arrives in Oz the first person to greet her is Glinda, Glinda arrives in an angelic way and greets Dorothy warmly almost like a concerned motherly figure, she even acts as that protective figure towards the Munchkins. This leads many to believe that Glinda’s Kansas or Real World counterpart is Dorothy’s mother. While not much evidence points to that theory or a hint to Dorothy’s mother is mentioned, but many Oz theorists believe this to be, what do you think?
What's on your mind?

As we all know The Wizard of Oz has been heavily popularized by the 1939 Judy Garland film and many people remember how the story goes based off the film itself as well as other adaptations afterwards. With that being said, the 1902 stage film of The Wizard of Oz was one of the first times Oz was brought into media through the stage and it differentiated from the original source ( less than the 1925 version but still) Do you think it can e brought back for a new audience or would it be dead on arrival?
I was stunned when I came across the cover of this book. Does anyone happen to know Tim Burton's the Nightmare Before Christmas charachter Jack Skellington? In the begining of the show Jack is wearing a pumpkin on his head that will come off and show his skelton face all the while the town people are singing this song praising him aa the Pumpkin King?? I was curious if anyone had heard of this or thought that this is no coincidence or it is ???

Not sure how many people have thought about it or hoped for it, but aside from the delayed ( or canceled ) Barnyard Studios film Do you think we will actually get a faithful adaptation of The Wonderful Wizard of Oz? Where it shares more attributes to the book rather than the 1939 film.
And if so do you think it will do successfully or if it will do poorly do to people trying to compare it too the '39 version.
The closest I can think of was The Wiz in 1978 but even then it still left out a few things.
What are your thoughts?
Does anyone know where any of these are? Got any suggestions?
Oz Movies Waiting to Be Found:
“Oz University” (1936) 10 mins This two-strip Technicolor record of the 1936 freshman pageant at the University of Michigan acted out entirely by women portraying various Oz characters.
“No. 13: Oz” (1962) directed by Harry Smith this one might be impossible to find because it’s wasn’t finished. I read somewhere that the preserved portion was included in his later film No. 16 Oz: The Tin Woodman’s Dream, but don’t know if that exactly right. If so, then I guess I can scratch this one off the list.
“Fantasia...3” (1966) directed by Eloy de la Iglesia 85 mins
“Roman Candles” (1966) directed by John Waters 40 mins When will this be played again? It’s an experimental film, essentially there are three movies played at once with tons of copyright issues.
“Shirley Temple Story” (1976) directed by Antonio Padros 217 mins
“The Wizard of Malta” (1981) directed by Alex Roshuk Runtime Unknown
“El Mago de Oz” (1985) directed by Angelica Ortiz and Ramon Tellez 70 mins
“Trouble in Oz” (1989) An anti drug/tobacco/alcohol video for kids.
“Toto's Rescue” (1989) directed by L.Q. ‘Missy’ Cruz, John Alexander Jimenez, Jeff Weigt, and John Weisker
“Oz” (1992) directed by Katsuhisa Yamada 70 mins
“Ode to Dorothy“ (1998) directed by Dayna McLeod
“Lost in Oz” (2000) directed by Michael Katleman [AKA “Tim Burton’s Lost in Oz” this is an incomplete project but some scenes were filmed that I’d love to see!]
“Lost in Oz” (2002) directed by Mick Garris 45 mins TV Movie
“No Place (Looking Back + Looking Forward)” (2005) directed by Sarah Miles 20 mins Art film
“Apocalypse Oz” (2006) directed by Ben Telford 30 mins
“To Oz! The Making of a Classic” (2009) directed by Peter Fitzgerald
I believe it’s another Oz documentary made up of previous Oz docs.
“Astoria, Queens” (2009) directed by Kyle Coker 21 mins
“The Wizard of Oz Experiment” (2011) directed by Dennis Neuschaefer-Rube 98 min Experimental art film.
“Dorothy and the Witches of Oz” (2012) directed by Leigh Scott [NOT TO BE CONFUSED WITH “The Witches of Oz” (2011) BY THE SAME DIRECTOR, It’s an alternate version of The Witches of Oz edited down.]
“The Wizard of U.S.” (2016) directed by Balbina Bruszewska 23 mins
“The Woodsman” (2016) directed by David Horn, a recorded musical stageplay
“Little Wizards of Oz” aka “I Piccoli Maghi Di Oz” (2018) directed by Luigi Cozzi 99 mins

There are more but that’s it for now. I’d be thrilled watch any of these! Thanks!

So it seems like it's meant to be the sequel to The Wizard of Oz. But there are a few continuity issues here.
First, Dorothy is younger.
Second, Aunt Em and Uncle Henry look different (as well as the Cowardly Lion being four-legged instead of anthromoporphic, and I think I remember them changing the Tin Man's appearance slightly too). I know they were all recast but they look nothing like them, except Dorothy, but again, she's younger.
Third, Emerald City seems more made of crystal than emerald this time around.
Fourth, I think I remember them saying something about Ozma's father being in power before the Wizard came, yet this didn't seem to hold true in the prequel, Oz: The Great and Powerful, where, if I recall correctly, the Wicked Witch of the East is in power. No mention of a previous king of Oz, or Mombi, or the Nome King.
Does this film fit into canon?
On that note, what of Legends of Oz: Dorothy's Return, is it canon either?
I noticed the website to keep a list of world wide recordings, I saw no Dutch recordings there, if anyone is interested at all in Dutch audio, here is a link to my website containing the known Dutch audio recordings (not that many, as far as I know these are the only ones): http://kroniekenvanoz.nl/nl-oz-audio/
Hi there, I was wandering if it was possible to mention, perhaps in a single article, some information about the new Dutch translations I'm working on personnally? It is 'our' intent to translate and publish all of the original Baum Oz books in Dutch. Currently we are working on the 'Queer Visitors' book. I was looking to publish as list of translations with the books we've done so far and keep it updated as books are getting published. And a short history of the project.
For those interested, here is a link to the page (shamelees selfpromotion ;-) ), it needs a little updating though; www.kroniekenvanoz.nl
Hello everyone!
Are there books that deepen the history of the four witches?
Hello, i like the 2 Oz Movies and have 2 Question, where in England or America was the ruin Emerald City from the 1985 "Return to Oz" Movie? and where was the Mountain and the Nic-Nac Room from the evil Nome King?
For those not aware, Codename STEAM is a strategy game put out by Nintendo subsidiary Intelligent Systems. I won't bore you with all the details, but long story short, it uses a lot of classic literary characters in it, including Dorthy, the (not so) Cowardly Lion, the Tin Man, and the Scarecrow. It's not set in Oz (though the Tinman will sometime shout "For Oz!"), and while characters do often make references back to their original works, it's not an Oz-centered game, though they do make up one third of the playable cast (not counting the four Amiibo Fire Emblem crossover characters).
Do they allow fanon on this wiki, or is there a separate Oz wiki for fanon.
I want to translate all the content of this wiki to portuguese, but I can't do it, so, can you create, admin, a version of this wiki in portuguese, too? As you did with Spanish?
That was special song played in one of read alogs. I SO WANT TO FIND IT AGAIN! <3
Hi there people! Some of you may know that I've been clear about why I adopted this wiki, but some of you may not; for new comers, I might look like a bureaucrat who does nothing for this wiki, and sadly it really does seem like that for quite some time, so I just want to make it clear again that I'm mostly here to serve as a janitor; thankfully there has not been any atrocious act of trolling or spamming the wiki with a bunch of redundant duplicated images lately, but yes, that's what I'm here for if it unfortunately happens again.
Now, contrary to what may have been the popular belief, I DO in fact monitor the Special:RecentChanges of this wiki even though I'm not actively contributing myself. It has come to my attention that the article for the Wizard of Oz (character) has been moved around, and I want to know if the majority of you guys think the renaming action is justified, cuz personally I'm voting a NO; however, like I said before, my knowledge to this franchise is only scratching the surface, so I would really like to hear what true fans have to say about this. Please comment below and specify why or why not you think the article name change is necessary.
Also, in the future, please do not take "rename" likely when it comes to important articles like this one; meaning all the original characters that have appeared in the first book, The Wonderful Wizard of Oz; they are most well known to people, and any big changes really should have been discussed first as "rename" the action itself will effect a lot of pages that have been linked to renamed pages.
So as we know, the films are not officially related to one another. MGM owns the rights to the 1939 film, while Disney owns Oz and Return to Oz. Tin Man comes on SyFy. However, despite this, they all can be somewhat bridged together. Anyone wanna help me figure out how?
- Oz the Great and Powerful comes first, acting as a prequel to the series.
- The Wizard of Oz (1939) is the second film in the series, taking place sometime after the events in Oz TGAP, with only some minor changes. But let's just pretend Glinda changed titles and dyed her hair.
- Return to Oz (film) takes place six months after the 1939 film, telling what happened after Dorothy returned from Oz.
- Tin Man (miniseries) takes place many years after all of these, with Dorothy acting as D.G.'s ancestor.
This is the best continuity. However, one could also go
- Oz the Great and Powerful
- The Wizard of Oz (1939)
- Dorothy and the Witches of Oz, however, this is less likely as it mostly establishes it's own continuity, with no connections.
It could also be
- Oz the Great and Powerful
- The Wizard of Oz (1939)
- Legends of Oz: Dorothy's Return, however, again this isn't likely as it mentions the Jester being Theodora and Evanora's brother, while OTGAP never mentioned this at all.
